Our Oregon Health Authority- approved training program is just what you need to succeed as a health care interpreter.

Our 64-hour program costs just $50 per module, leaving you with extra cash in your pocket.  And our 8-week program is on Saturdays, which doesn’t take you away from your work time.

New focus: The interpreter profession

With our new training director Mary Soots B.A., M.A. the program is more interactive, and more focused on the practical skills needed for successful, professional interpreters.
Expect engaging instructors, relevant lessons, and plenty of group activities and practice interpreting.

Advances Your Required Professional Accreditation

Recently revised Oregon Health Bill 2419 pushes health care providers to work with professionally accredited interpreters.  As a result, more interpreter agencies and hospitals are looking for Oregon state certified and qualified health care interpreters.  Our training program fulfills your education requirement for accreditation, and helps you understand the oral and written exams.

This class really benefits me. I love learning about the role of the interpreter. This course helps me improve my interpreting, and I feel supported to pursue excellence in my profession. Thank you OHCIA!
— Teresa S., Spanish Interpreter and Community Advocate
I am beginning my career as an interpreter, and this course gives me a community and inspiration to get started. I am training to be a qualified health care interpreter, but I also feel that I am learning how to teach my community about the importance of interpreters. I really appreciate the low cost of the program, and I am enjoying the class!
