Our Purpose
OHCIA believes everyone deserves access to the health care they need, no matter what language they speak or where they come from.
The Interpreter Directory was created to support those who need health care but do not speak English. We empower interpreters by helping them obtain state credentials and connect with work opportunities. We also partner with health care organizations to help them improve care for the communities that need it most.
Organizations Utilizing the ID
“The directory is great. It connects interpreters to agencies who are hiring them, and fills a real need. It makes it so much easier to find exactly the right interpreter for the job.”

“The advantage of OHCIA’s Interpreter Directory is that I can easily find interpreters that are actively looking for work. By viewing their profile, I can see their location, years of experience, distance they are willing to drive and their availability and any relevant credentials they may add. The best part is that I am able to filter for what I am looking for. It’s important I don’t take an Interpreter’s time when I don’t need to and by having this information all in one place it saves all of us so much time. When I search the state registry, I waste a lot of time because the information is often out of date and not specific.”
