Summary

This position exists to engage different community organizations and companies in promoting the conference to their respective communities.  The position would also involve some sponsorship outreach, but the bulk of the work would be focused on marketing and community outreach.  In order to make this conference successful, we want to make sure more interpreters, community leaders, local companies, health care professionals, and other relevant stakeholders are engaged in the event.  The community involvement coordinator would work closely with the conference chair to accomplish all objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Generate a list of organizations, companies, and individuals to contact about the conference

  • Meet in person or over the phone with contacts from the list to see how our conference can benefit those communities

  • Keep up relationships formed in the community and pass on information about the conference

  • Make weekly social media and OHCIA blog posts about the conference

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies for the conference

  • Work in a spirit of collaboration, to help the local communities feel involved with the conference

Requirements

  • Experience with community engagement and/or fundraising

  • Gifted verbal communicator and empathetic listener

  • Talented writer, blogging experience preferred

  • Social media experience

  • Self-starter; motivated by the values of the OHCIA

  • Email and technology experience

  • Prior experience working with a team

  • Passion for the health care interpreter industry

Average 2-3 hours a week
