Researching Language Justice

Felicity Ratway, MA, CMI is an experienced healthcare interpreter working in Oregon since 2015 with certifications through OHA and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. In addition to her interpreting work, Felicity studies access to interpreters as a health policy PhD student. As a graduate research assistant at the Oregon Center for Health Innovation, she designed and currently teaches the Spanish-English Health Care Interpreter Training Program. She also serves as Director of Educational Programs at the Oregon Health Care Interpreters Association. Felicity holds elected positions as a rural interpreter representative on the bargaining team in Oregon Interpreters in Action, a statewide healthcare interpreters’ union of which she is a founding member, and as Chair of the Advocacy and Legislative Committee on the Oregon Council on Health Care Interpreters. Felicity has worked on state policies related to language access as well as several state bills focused on access to credentialed healthcare interpreters and working conditions for interpreters.
